A TOP TO BOTTOM LIVING ROOM MAKEOVER

Welcome Spring lovers! Even if you are still in the cold I imagine Spring thoughts are on your mind. When I think of Spring I think of new beginnings, planting, warm air all that with a blanket of sunshine. Really there is so much to be thankful for on earth. Well come on in and see what I am up to..........

My living room was beginning to bore me so I decided to paint it , when I headed out to Homedepot I had an oatmeal color on my mind . Once I saw how beautiful some real color was I ended up choosing this Slate blue from Glidden , After I was done I started questioning my choice , I thought wow I never see this color in all the decorating that I have ventured on to . But as I started checking around I see a couple of rooms in Country Sampler had the same color hues in a couple of rooms and yesterday I was watching fixer upper and they also did a room with the slate blue hue. So I don't feel odd about it anymore. Oh its only paint and you know how that goes paint it again if it does not work out ....that's nothing to me lol.

I spent a few days crafting items for the room..
Sewed pillows
painted and stenciled the bamboo carpet
sewed a ruffled topper
did some painting on the fire place, chalkboard, and end tables, coffee table
Made a sign
Painted up a huge tray for the coffee table

I wanted a bright fun room that could be comfortable for all to enjoy. I love the white and blue but wanted to take some red in here and there.

Just had to sneak in some festive white lights

I sewed the topper and used some pretty lace for the whole window

I had a gift card from Cracker barrel so I picked out this cream color Home tray, had some ruffle just hung it as a garland. Put pops of red here and there. Couldn't decide from the red flowers or the white stems and rooster. The red flowers won....

Painted this shutter up and hung some trinkets on it

A kind woman from one of the groups I belong to ....her dad would always say this and I think its a perfect quote. I painted some tin tiles for the sides.

That blackness is my black lab Cicily taking a rest Just a simple cow stencil  and GATHER,Also sewed the table runner.

I made some flowers from material to add to the grapevine swag

This is my couch with out a cover leather and not pet friendly so covers on  most of the time.

So all and all I spent money on the paint and home tray was new most I painted or sewed with material from my stockpile. It was fun to do and a welcome change

Shopping your house & repurposing can be the key to a no money makeover!

Hi there...  so happy you could drop in!  Perhaps your wondering exactly what is shopping your house? It is a term that decorating bloggers use a whole bunch. We tend to buy and buy items , fill shelves with things you think you will need someday because hey we change things out more than we change undergarments according to my family. Even if your not a blogger you still do it. Or better yet this is my favorite repurpose something, while you may be sick of something but when you add it to another room it takes a whole look  especially if you add new paint.

Today I am sharing a redo I did on my shower room here I repurposed  and brought things from another room.

I had these shutters for a while, I think they have been in every room , they are so versatile and look good where ever you put them , The wreath I made from some scraps of material and a rooster I had.

I took a small cabinet that had 3 shelves and turned it on its back and the rolled towels fit nice and neat

A bicycle basket hangs on the shower door , a great place to set your clean clothes in

I sewed this curtain out of material in my bin, Simple & Fast

So why not shop your house? So you don't need money to give a room a makeover ......so what room will you be giving a Spring refresh to?

Until next time

A ROAD SIDE RESCUE, a welcomed wooden hutch

Hi there....nice of you to stop on in today, So as I was driving down my road I noticed  a piece of furniture was road side destined for trash pick up.....NO   I thought A could be beautiful wooden hutch a wonderful place to display my white dish collection.  So on our way back in I snatched it up quickly . The piece needed a bit of reconstruction work but nothing me and my carpenter daughter couldn't do, a few screws and some wood glue made the piece solid as can be....

We took the scallop edges off did not like them ,,,all put together and now ready to paint and bring on in to meet my dishes...

A great place for Ironstone and other collectibles.

I have these 3 white small dishes that I paint on for holidays I don't seal it so when I want these bunnies to be gone I soak them for a bit and the paint comes right off , I just use regular craft paint.

A nice lady on the farm house diy told the group about these wooden canning jars they are at Dollar general for 1$ . I sanded the original design off and painted on my own.
Spring always means birds to me
I crafted these nests from some small vines that I pulled from a huge weed pile after they dried I made these nests ummm, looks like the birds made them right??

The winner of the Farm fresh egg burlap table runner is ..........       Sue VanOstran  Thankyou to all that entered and hope to have some facebook live projects as well as another give a way very soon

New life for a thrift store table & a spring vignette....

Welcome, happy Saturday !  Today is raining here in SW Florida  a great day to rummage the Thrift stores.  Last week I  stopped in at Goodwill last minute kind of thing, I strayed right to the furniture and there it was a vintage drop down table just what I was looking for , for a very long time , It is maple and very old and just the right size for what I need it for. It had good bones so to speak but needed some paint and lovin care. You see I am very kind to old furniture ,I take it home , give it a new life and love it forever!  Crazy right  .....I am thinking that most bloggers see it that way. So this is what she looked life when I first brought her home. Kinda rough.....

So many scratches but nice legs and sturdy
There is these narrow slats of wood that you pull out and that's how the sides pull out , easy and fast and mechanically in excellent condition.
Shes ready for some paint so I sanded it a bit and used paint with primer. I have to say if someone was video taping me at Goodwill they would be very amused. When I was in the store no one was around to help me so I pulled out my can of spinach I got a huge cart picked it up put it in there. The funny part was in the parking lot getting it into my SUV alone . Tring not to nick it up or nick up the new to me vehicle cause who wants to listen to Mr. StNSA right?? I ended up getting this table for free, here in SW Florida they give you a card ,every time you spend 10$ you get a stamp so when you have 10 stamps you get a free 10 item and this table was 9.99 so FREE yey

Here she is a dressed in black , I choose not to distress her not for now anyway.

Pull up the side and a great place to have a little lunch. I have placed the table in my living room , it can set for 4 people if its opened on both sides so it will serve as extra seating for when my dining room is full.

This is my spring market vignette basket I put together, I crafted the carrots out of brown paper and the stems are made of raffia, these are plastic eggs that I have painted

Next time your passing a thrift store , stop on in you never know what treasures you will find!
                                                                    Happy crafting until next time

A PRETTY SPRING WREATH FOR ABOUT 3.00, PAPER SACKS? $ store?

Spring is in the air....Welcome!  If you have followed along you know I love a craft using brown paper bags so I thought I would incorporate it into a pretty spring wreath! Did you know that the early people would hang wreaths on their doors made of  greens and berries  in hope that Spring would soon arrive. Now adays we hang them everywhere to spread some beauty in our décor.

So the first step was a round base ,I used some heavy wire, then I got busy cutting the leave forms out of the brown paper......lots of them maybe 2 or 3 doz.
So after you have all your leaves cut out its time to get messy.....you can either dip or brush paint each one ,,your hands are going to get painty but it was fun!  lay them out on a non paper surface maybe a tray such as I did I folded them in half while they were wet .

Once they have dried  you can begin to hot glue them on your base I didn't really have a set pattern I just randomly put them about. Dothis until the base is completely covered.
And you will end up with this. I bought the eggs and flowers from $ Tree I did paint the eggs I made a little nest out of raffia so everything is hot glued on .

So for about 3$ a crafted spring wreath
