A NEW VINTAGE PIECE OF FURNITURE ALL FLUFFED FOR SUMMER

Welcome happy you could stop on in! I am excited to share this beautiful vintage cabinet that my so very nice neighbors gifted me with. They used to own an Antique store up North and it was used to display various colored glasses etc.  They are the nicest neighbors who also suffered Irma damages here in SW Florida. Many are still trying to get things built but the shortage of reliable companies to erect roofs and buildings the way they were are short so waiting patiently has been a daily struggle for many.

Let me introduce the latest piece.... It had been painted by artist but I decided to go ahead with my Waverly Chalk paint
I found that this paint works well and covered in one coat.

I decided because summer is quickly approaching I would deck her out with red , white and blue and that would fit perfect seeing the new living room is slate blue .

I scanned all my closets for red white and blue dishes and knick knacks. I was happy to be able to use my summer berry dishes my moms blue bell and a vintage vase . I was hoping my skeleton key would fit but no luck.

I decided to keep the antique glaze on the interior.

I created a little reading area for myself in the living room.

This is a great way to display a vintage quilt . This is called a dish quilt and it was one of my best finds ever at a thrift store I can only imagine the hard work that went into creating this beautiful masterpiece I just love vintage quilts !

I decided to put my wooden iron shutters up again I do love them , I think that I have used them in just about every room.

Well thank you for stopping in perhaps I have inspired you to give new life to an old piece of furniture that you may have thought about tossing to the curb,  Painting fun until next time and I would also like to say you can find the Waverly chalk paint in the craft section of your Walmart for under 6.00

DONT THROW YOUR BIG TIN CANS AWAY.....you can craft something nice with them

Hi there. nice of you to stop by! If you visit a bit here you know that I am always saying don't throw away your big tin cans , I buy them with tomato sauce or fruit in them . I was needing something for a new to us outdoor table. Its rather large so I needed something that would be useful and pretty. I went to my stash of large cans and picked 3 and got started.

I painted them red which happens to be an outdoor paint

I decided to do a white band but dry brushed it I then added some stenciled stars  .

If you like you can tape so you get good lines

I tied some cording around the top and just knotted it.

simple , easy , free and pretty!

Please don't laugh at my Mexican Petunias seems as though people here in Fla don't care for them they are listed as an evasive plant I don't care I love them I have them all over its the only plant that will continually give pretty purple flowers every single day . when these root I will plant them.
This is a chalkboard one I did that holds folded cloth napkins.
This one sits on my microwave , the following links are some more can projects

A DINING ROOM SUMMER FRESHENUP COME ON IN........

Welcome, please do come on in.....Recently I have shared my seaside cottage kitchen and the newly painted Slate blue living room today I am sharing  the dining room with a lot of white. I have been loving the farm house white rooms that I have been seeing but I did keep some color in the dining room . Lets take a tour.........

I had bought this large picture some time ago so I thought that I would turn it into a chalkboard . A simple craft that can easily be done . Chalkboard paint can easily be found even at Walmart in the craft section. As long as you start out with a sturdy well made picture you can definitely turn it into a chalkboard ,I have had so much fun announcing birthdays, silly notes etc...

I had 3 old tins that I also gave a lick of white paint to including the roosters!

I gave the chair backs a dry brushing of white if you notice the 3d design that was done with a stencil and some caulking I had done a post on it some time ago but I plan on doing another one real soon its such a great way to decorate furniture, picture frames or anything for that matter with a flat surface.

bright and light

I am so loving this dish I found  the dishaholic in me will be scanning the thrift stores to find more

So what about you....do you like all white or a tad of color mixed in . I do hope I have inspired you to craft a chalkboard its a fun project !  Thanks so much for visiting today

Welcome to my vintage style seaside cottage kitchen

Come on in !  Nice of you to stop in I have been  working on the sea side kitchen for a few days if you follow along you will remember that I transform a room into a sea side bit of fun every summer. Last year it was the dining room the year before it was the living room I have made some fun items and transformed some items to add to the summertime fun. I just wanted a kitchen that would reflect a bit about where we live. I live across the street from the sea water the homes on the opposite side of me sit on the water and have docks so they can take their boats directly out to the sea. The canals of water are not for swimming seeing they are filled with alligators, fish manatees and who knows what else . The water is brackish which means salt and fresh mixed together. A wonderful waterway for spying florida birds and wildlife.

So I packed my roosters and such and put them away for now.....

My daughter had these two plaques that she gave to me when she was moving they where bright and way too blue so I painted them up and put one on each side of the cabinet where the window is.

A fishing net adds to the theme

Another fish net in the hanging basket that has a huge fish in it

A piece of driftwood that I painted on made a colorful banner , my daughter brings back driftwood from her canoe journeys

I bought this boat at a thrift store and just added some blue glass

These are some vintage amethyst tea glasses set on the shelf
I crafted the lifesaver and sign just for fun
Here he is scary but sits so well in the basket
This is one of the many stars I have just added some paint
This is my favorite an oil painting from a good friends thrift store...I think it is of a fisherman in the Everglades where they trap stone crabs a Florida favorite I have this set upon the stove hood

Never thought about cutting some palm pieces until I seen it on a Country Living display

 Beach sign I crafted

So repainted the drop table and put it here such a great place for me to catch up on internet and have a quick bite to eat love that the sides just pop up when I need the room

 or not

 crafted the bait sign

and this seafood sign, had some ceramic fish from something else so I just glued them on
 Love my wooden decoy ducks

A lantern , cookbook and the picture in the back is the cottage where our president Washington was born.

Just some summer fun !   hope you enjoyed the tour, until next time
