Hi there, it's a wonderful day here at Sweet tea N' Salty Air. I had this very nice all cotton Pottery Barn duvets cover, king size . So I had been looking for something that would be nice in the Lake house room, I scanned the internet but no luck . While I was looking through all that I had on hand I came across this wonderful King size Duvet cover , just the right colors.
The material is all cotton and it is very heavey so I begun taking it apart in the middle and from there I cut it into 4 length size pieces. All I did was sew all the straight seems so there were no rough edges.
So I turned the just sitting on the shelf duvet cover into these lakeside summer curtains. A hem on all sides is all you need to sew and if sewing is not in your agenda some textile adhesive would do the trick.

A FAUX COTTAGE VINTAGE SCREEN DOOR CRAFTED BY ME!!
Hello and welcome to Sweet Tea N' Salty Air, so happy you stop by today, you may be wondering what I have been up to....... Iv'e been busy in my workshop. I have been scanning the internet for a vintage screen door to add to my lake house room. I just love the way they look all decorated. I came close to ordering one from Country Door, one of my favorite places to go completely out of control shop. I got to thinking that I could make my own out of scraps of wood and a broken wooden Adirondack chair. So I got busy in my back workshop using my new jig saw. It was a full day project but well worth it.
I used the stencil vinyl spakieling method as I did on my kitchen cabinets.
I then painted grey on here and there and while the paint was stick tacky I used a scraper to give a chippy worn look
I had some hardware in my tools so I attached a pull and some hinges.
I propped it up in a corner area. I made it a bit small so it would fit well in the room.

I gave it a coat of black paint and stapled on new black screening that I had from the rescreening of the porch.

I almost wish I had a real doorway to actually place it for real.
I added some red ,white and blues for the holiday . This was a fairly easy project seeing that it was just straight line cutting. I think I may be ready to try one for my kitchen door that actually will be a working one
Thank you so much for stopping by, see you latter alligator!

WELCOME TO MY LAKEHOUSE WHIMSICAL LIVINGROOM!
Happy Friday to you! Finally I have come close to the finish of my kid friendly and lots of fun living room. The theme is Lake House, such as the one that my grandparents owned in New England where the fondest of memories were made. I tried to produce a room where it says a vintage fun place on the lake where grilling had no end and swimming never stopped , penny candy filled the bowls that traveled the tables. Beach towels were always drying in the hot summer sun. Lunches were plentiful to sooth an empty stomach that was swimming since sun up.
I used things from around the house and also used material to craft projects. Mr. Sweet Tea will no longer have an atlas Shhhhh! He has not realized it yet. I used the pages for tables runners, I also covered a lamp shade and rolled some up to place in a copper tub.
This was an older pillow stuffed fish from Bass Pro so I gave him a coat of paint and some new eyes I may have gone to far he has gotten the name river monster.
A floor board became a sign of my favorite swimming place about 10 of us kids would use a big tractor trailer tire tube and paddle away to blueberry Island were the blue berries grew as big as dimes. Yum!
I used two old books painted and renamed them and tied with a raffia bow
These fish as I showed you yesterday were made from Muslin I painted them and then gave them a coat of sealer to stiffen them up a bit. I used buttons for the eyes.
I made a lifesaver from scraps of material and a round hoop from a broken lampshade. I crafted the swim sign from a store bought sign. I used an old shutter and placed white lights behind it. I also used my Madeline tin because of the shell shape. Madeline's are a scrumptious tea cake.
I used some map pieces on the wall with a fishing net, a decorated beach hat , an ice sign that I crafted and of course cokes!
This is a grouping of a paddle boat sign crafted from a floor board, A lake house sign made from a scrap of wood and an old photo garland of vintage beach pictures.
I found this materiel in my stash so a made a few pillow covers.
I covered the shade with map pages then painted it over with a white glue solution. You may see some wrinkles seeing that it is not fully dry. I took a large bright yellow rope and made some sea knots and draped it over it for some fun!
I even had some bright white cape code curtains as my gram had but I hung them a little different than she did I used curtain clips And did some fancy bunching on the top.
I hung some fish on the vintage ladder and placed a glass fish dish and an old tin on the steps.
Everything for great summer fun! Thanks for coming out to the "Lake" today! Bye for now.....

A lake Side garland made from an old tea shirt, yep mr Sweet Tea's, he doesn't know that yet either.
I had these two beachey looking baskets stored away they seem to match well.
The coffee table is jammed with fun stuff such as a mini chalkboard, a lantern, maps, coasters and......
Of course a scrabble game as we always entertained ourselves with board games after a long day of swimming, I'm trying to bring that back around here.

A PAINTED FARMHOUSE TABLE AND PAINTOVER OF CHAIRS AND A MARRIAGE!
Hi there welcome to Sweet Tea N' Salty Air. So happy you could take a visit here today, Pull up a newly painted dining chair and Ill pour you a sweet Tea! Remember those tired looking chairs in the dining room?
Here it is all dressed up with a vinyl spackling stencil design such as you seed on the Farm house kitchen cabinets. And here it is all painted black tie.
I decided to leave the wooden seats alone. I just gave the spackle design a little rub with some light wax. I had bought a Better Homes And Garden Farm table at Goodwill a while back, it also had a wooden top similar to the chairs but I decided to make it look like a real Farm house table. That's Sissy our black lab taking one of her several naps per day.
I sanded it up a bit and used the Rustoleum White that I had left over from my kitchen cabinets and used the same process, a ruler to make the wood lines and a scraper. No sand paper was ever used with this process, you must do the scraping and drawing of the lines when the paint is still wet. Al the area where I scraped I used a all weather light brown sealer.
Love it in black and white!
I had four of the same chairs so I painted up a wooden bench for one side.
Oh and the marriage I was referring to is this.....
So I have this very huge bakers rack in the dining room that was already black and I also had a very heavy dresser mirror frame from many a moons ago so I was just playing around for a new place to put the frame seeing that one of my kiddies broke the very old mirror and it fit nicely and framed the bakers rack in. I kind of loved the "marriage" so I attached it securely. What do you think ? I attached a swoopy kind of material skirt to the bakers rack so I could use the bottom for storage for like Mr Sweet Tea's Juicer he bought and only used once!
And you know my old round dining table? well I have put it to good use as our new coffee table in the living room . It works out great Little natalie just pulls up a stool and can sit and color or have a quick snack.
I separated the pedestal base and attached a wrought iron base from a former fire pit. The table is placed in the center of the room. I didn't harm any of the pieces just in case I want to turn it into a dining table again.
Happy week end to you all and remember don't be hasty about throwing furniture etc . to the curb you can repurpose or paint and make something new again!
