A Fall Fireplace full of Warmth!

 Welcome, as fall swiftly approaches we all start to gather, bake enjoy family. In my living room the fireplace sets the mood for Fall. Whether you have a faux or real either can be decorated for all the seasons. I think it's the true focal point of the room. I snipped some vines from my grapes to create the simple wreath. I chose some Pumpkin colored ticking fabric to craft bows and make the garland pendant.

Just a couple of wooden pumpkins, old books and an old vintage outdoor light turned indoor candle holder. 

The owl/ branch dishes were a country door find many years ago and of course white lights for whimsy.  I also crafted a pendant garland to hang with the lights. The candle holder was a goodwill f find that I white washed.  Just a simple fall fun fireplace!

Bakers Rack, Ready For The Baking Season

 Welcome! Happy you could stop by. Ok so we are all looking forward  to the fall,  and holiday baked goods, right? I dislike going from place to place pulling supplies such as sugar,  flour etc. I like to have everything all in one place that makes baking fun and much easier.

The items that I have incorporated are:

Flour,sugars, spices, baking cups, measuring items, rolling pins, sifter and stored in baskets are cooling racks and various cupcake, Madeleine pans.

Of course the super star is the kitchen aide mixer, she never tires, she been worked and over worked with frosting, batters and her stiff peaks of fresh cream and I can't forget the perfect creamy mashed potatoes that she does perfectly!

I have added a Corian counter top for easy cleanup as well as more room. Let's take a peek..

The canning jars are labeled to see easily.and I just had to add the white string lights for fun . Baking will be easy for the children as well. I see lots of goodies coming this way!

A Cart Makeover turned Kitchen Island

 Welcome so nice of you to stop by....Peel and Stick paper and my favorite go to paint. Before you toss an old ugly piece to the curb try a bit of paint and paper. I brought back life to a tired good old gal. I have had this sitting around for a very long time. What I like about this is it rolls so I can take this easily and roll it into the dining room or living room and serve desert and coffee very easily. So I just needed something a bit smaller for an island and this is working nicely. I did a bit of sanding to give her some age beauty.i think she will work out perfectly! My very favorite paint is Rust-oleum Painters Choice it works well with everything and also is available in spray as well.

Peel and stick and be found online at Walmart, Amazon and is very inexpensive and fairly easy to apply so why not give it a try!

Homemade Guacamole ! A great way to use your garden tomatoes

 GUACAMOLE....A delicious snack filled with garden fresh tomatoes, avacodos, sweet onions, fresh lemon juice, sour cream and sweet onions. The spice is Adoba with pepper you will want to have a nice cold drink and some fresh tortilla chips.

I don't have a precise recipe, but for this bowl I used 2 small Hass Advacodos,  2 vineripe tomatoes, 1/2 of a  vadalia sweet onion, the juice of 1/2 lemon, about 2 heaping tablespoons of sour cream and a good shaking of Adoba

I dice everything but not too small. Hope you'll give it a try. Enjoy!

Wallpaper Makes For A Fun Accent Wall

 Welcome! I cannot tell you how excited I am to see that wallpaper has made a comeback! The popular peel n stick is great but I'm talking real wallpaper. Prepasted , meaning dipping your cut piece into warm water. Or using wallpaper paste, that which I chose for my living room accent wall. I've been known to paper for work and did it for several years.

When shopping for paper take your time and choose paper you will love for a long time. The paper I chose is from Arthouse, thier paper is fabulous and won't break the bank. I chose a paper that was faux wood with a bit of color and a ton of character. My living room at the present tim is our lakeside cabin, our summer staycation so it's filled with vintage fishing, lanterns and all things cabin. Just a fun room to hang out in. The paper I chose also had fit the bill for a farmhouse room as well. When choosing paper you may want to make sure it will go with your floor as well.

I also cooked up my own paste which worked beautifully;

4 cups water

1/2 cup cornstarch

1/2 cup sugar

Cook on stove, stirring continuously until thickened. Cool and paste!

There are so many patterns, styles ,colors of papers to choose from.  If you can ladder up, measure cut, plates the paper you can do it! My advice for you is to get a paper you do not have to  match patterns the fist couple of times you paper. Be sure you have tools such as lots of rags damp and dry, single edge razors, a good step ladder  and a good size soft paint brush for brushing the paste on. Start with a small paper job at first and before you know it you'll be a pro!

I made this screen door many years ago, a fish basket filled with some white lights and a cloth fish for some whimsy!

A collection of old lanterns add a bit of color.

The accent wall lends a bit of fun to the room which also has a fireplace,red  plaid cabin curtains and also a faux painted vintage cabin floor.

These dishes I painted and stenciled, just old dishes I had hanging around.
